Use the Third Mouse Button

Although most PC mice come with two buttons, some makers (such as Logitech) include three buttons on their mice.
The third (middle) mouse button, while not used by default in Windows, can be programmed to take the funtion of another operation such as double-clicking, copying to the clipboard, or pasting from the clipboard.
Since the Mouse icon in Control Panel doesn't have any settings for the third mouse button, you need special drivers for your mouse (obtained from the manufacturer).
However, if you have a Logitech 3-button mouse, you can set the middle mouse button to double-click with the following instructions.
- Run the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE).
- Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Logitech\ Mouseware\ CurrentVersion\ SerialV\.
- Select Find from the Edit menu, and search for "DoubleClick."
- When you find a value (not a Key) named DoubleClick, double-click on it, and change the 0000 to 0010.
- You might have to restart Windows for this change to take effect.
- Note: If you are left-handed and have switched the left and right mouse buttons, this solution will still use the physical left button, meaning that you are actually double-right-clicking. So far, there is no way to overcome this situation.
