Hi Bill,
In the context you describe, the likelihood that you (or anybody) would be able
to identify all of the possible problems, with any degree of certainty, is minimal.
Your quickest, most effective, and certainly safest solution is to reformat you hard
drive, re-instal your operating system and your applications, and restore your data
from backup (you do have a backup, right?)
Unless, of course, you have either a clone or an image of your hard drive which
you are confident is clean and good, in which case you could repair the damage in
less than an hour.
