If you look in device manager under network adapters, do you see any yellow question marks ?, if not check your adapter's properties to make sure your TCP/IP settings are set to obtain IP/DNS adddresses automatically and finally, if any AV software is onboard, at least temporarily disable...power cycle your modem, then reboot..see if you don't pull a valid IP...
