No the notebook is not under warranty.

Initialy I thought exactly this (mouse / keyboard) but it only happens with the Microsoft apps. It never occurs with any of the other apps I run such as MYOB, Safari, a range of Nokia software, Norton, PLC programming software, EPROM burning software etc.

This is my main computer and I use it on site as a notebook & in my office & @ home with a large LCD monitor & wireless mouse & keyboard. I can't recall if it has ever happened when using the notebook alone or not. I rarely use IE in these circumstances.

I suspect some sort of incompatibility between the mouse / keyboard / IE8 / Vista / perhaps a Windows Update.

Note that this setup worked fine for more than a year before the problem arose.

I know there must be a pattern to when / how it occurs but so far I can't see it. I'l have to start a log of what apps are open when it occurs.

Meanwhile, any thoughts or tests that could help gratefully appreciated.
