I share your sentiments, it's my data, and who has more vested interest in it than
me?
No way that I'm going to pay someone else to "take care of it."
When I first became an IT manager, I went to visit our off site storage. (The guy
I had replaced had never done that.) I was appalled at the lack of quality in their
service. Our conclusion was that it was highly unlikely that we could retrieve any
specific data if ever needed.
