You will want your partitions to be set as Active, Primary Partitions. If yo go the 
route of setting up new drives you will still have to use one of a few different 
software to set up the dual boot configuration. You can do it with you Windows install 
disk, but it is a lot easier with the program that I mentioned previously. If you 
use the features in the install disk to do this there are numerous boards , including 
MS that have tutorials for managing the dual boot config.
