Virus scanner goes to sleep?

I'm using Trend Micro Penicillin internet security for virus and malware scanning
on my Windows Vista laptop. The problem is that when I start a scan and I'm running
on battery, the OS goes to sleep in about 15 minutes. This causes the scan to "pause",
and when I come back, instead of being done I have to wake it up and "resume" the
scan for the rest of it. So it seems I have to be there during the scan to keep
it from stopping and going nowhere.

Any advice on how to get the computer not to go to sleep in this situation? It seems
like bad behavior to me, but I don't see anything about it in the app help or in
the OS "help and support" information.

Thanks for your help.

-Roger
