Disk Drive "D" problem

I need to move "my pictures" in my PC to a CD-Disk
to open space on my hard drive. I have a DVD drive
and a CD-Writer drive and Floppy disk drive. When I
try to send my pictures to my DVD disk drive, I am
asked to insert "disk into drive D". No matter what I
try in switching drives, I get the same message. I know my computer has a removal
disk D because it shows on my computer, but my local disk is (c) and
does not change to "d" when I click O.K. to message.
I will appreciate any advise on how to open drive D,
or in the alternative, another way to move my pics
to a CD. Thanks in advance.

You need to use CD Burning Software of some sort. Windows ME has none.

Steve prior to writing my post I was reading the link I provide here.
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Utilities/Backup_and_Copy_Utilities/gBurner.html
Since WinMe has no CD Burnin software, do you think
I should download the one in the link?

It doesn't support Win 98. Only supports NT systems, NT4 and higher. One of the
older versions of Nero burning ROM would work if you can find one.. I'll check around
for a free burning tool for Win 9X and post back when I find something that I could
recommend..

Try this one:
http://www.deepburner.com/
There is a free version and a paid version. Download the free version. It's one
of the better burning utilities that I have heard of. In fact, I'll download it
and see how it works on Win 9x tomorrow.

Thanks C K, I will appreciate it if you can find one
that I use. I read somewhere about the Nero you
mention, but do not recall where.

C K I found the link and I think its the deepburner free 1.9 that I should download.
I read the installation instructions and find it intimidating because I am techie
lacking to the max. I will wait
to see how it works for you. Let me know, o.k?

C K , I found out this morning (Monday) that indeed
I have a D-drive in my computer. My confusion was
based on the fact that the D-drive is designed for the
use of "FUJIFILM" IBM "ZIP" products in my old WINME computer. Lucky my daughter
had given me
a few new zip disks when she gave me my PC. Note
that a zip disk is approximately the same size of a
floppy disk, so I never could imagine the slot in my
computer was for a zip, hence, the D-Drive. It took
my Son, savvy on these things to solve my problem
and I have moved all my pictures to two zips.
I want to thank you C K for the advise, for without it
I would still be stuck with all that annoying weigh on
my PC. I am copying this message and pasting it to
a response to Steve, who also has been great when I
need you guys..Thanks a lot C K -- and Steve. My
problem has been solved.

Nothing like on Site hands on Help. Never would have guessed you were using Zip Disks.
They are normally 100 or 250 MBs, a bit more then Floppys, I still use a USB Zip
Drive for storing smaller Files.

Steve I always knew there was a drive that looked
kind of weird to me on my PC. It happens to be the
"D" disk drive that is a tad wider than a floppy disk
drive. I was trying to use a TDK 650 MBs CD-R compact disk to move my to pictures
into, with no luck, always being asked to insert a disk in D drive.
There is no way I could have solved this without my
finding the ZIP disks and inserting one to find the D
drive is actually what you mean about zip disks. As to
the amount of space in zips, as far as the number of
pictures I moved into one, I can tell you I used one
full zip disk (MBs unrecalled) and a half of another to
move a couple of hundred pictures. You are absolutely right, "there is nothing like
on site help". I
will continue to seek you guys out, thanks a lot Steve.
