The BIOS would not have been deleted. You may have loosened one of the cables when you poked around inside the case. Make sure they are firmly attached to both the drive AND the motherboard. Oxide can build up on the contacts of the power cables over time. You may have to gently work it loose from the drive and then reattach it.
