Thanks for your reply, Keith,
I've been giving a blow-by-blow of this mess to a good friend in Australia who's
used nothing but PC's from the start. She said that if the unit was up and running
when I picked it up (which it was), then it already has a driver and software installed
and the desk he gave me, marked "software & driver' should just be a backup in case
of meltdown.
The man told me it was loaded with your basic Windows 95.
So, according to savvy Rose, there's no reason for it to not startup smooth and easy.
But you think I should acquire this different OS and its included software? Is there
likely to be something inherently defective with ANY Win95?
Like I said, originally, a person cannot be dumber of all this than me. So, feel
free to address me like the dim bulb in these things that I am.
I'm interpreting that you're saying the dead monitor is about its installed software.
Do I have that correct?
I have this creepy suspicion that I'm missing something totally simple. But installing
a different OS doesn't sound all that simple.
I hope I'm not being a bore.
I really appreciate your help.
Thanks, Bruce
