I usually avoid running programs that reside on another computer. If I want to
run it, I copy it to the local computer. Better yet, I install it on the local computer.
Simple programs generally run well when not "installed".
Firefox runs okay that way but there are 2 gotchas. When started, it won't remember
the window size it had when previously shut down. Also Free Download Manager won't
integrate itself with Firefox unless Firefox has been installed.
Foxit is a time bomb when run without installing. It can do serious damage to
"open with" when run that way.
