It is usually recommended that you run lcd monitors in their "native resolution"
for best results. By the sound of it you were not running anywhere near this on your
Windows 7 install (?)
If your monitor's native resolution is 1366×768 then you need a video card/driver
that supports this resolution.
Windows does not directly control screen resolution
