Video all red-no picture

Windows 7 help advised me that I can run two operating systems so I purchased a XP service pack 3 CD and then after re-reading the instructions, I noticed that I am advised to put the older OS in FIRST.  I already have windows 7 installed and it appears that I cannot put the older XP OS without fouling everything up.  Is there someway to add XP3 without messing up windows 7!  None of my combat flight sims will work in windows 7 and I would hate to mess everything up to be able to use them!

All of a sudden, when I attempt to play video online, the screen is a mass of red and green and no pictures. I downloaded a codex XP 2.2 but it didn't help. HELP
