Hi everybody,
This isn't an annoyance—it's a possible solution should anyone else have this
problem.
I installed Windows 7 a few weeks ago and found it randomly crashed when resuming
from Sleep mode.
These kinds of problems are usually related to power management. I'd already checked
the power settings in my BIOS—but it took me a while to realize I'd enabled this
setting, whose default was Disabled:
> ErP Support > Determines whether to let the system consume
less than 1W power in S5 (shutdown) state.
Looks like a helpful new power-saving feature, doesn't it? It can be, under some
circumstances—but it turns out to be particularly hardware-dependent. As soon as
I disabled it again, no more crashes.
I'm not suggesting you turn off any power-saving features you don't have to. But
if you're having problems when resuming from Sleep mode, and you've enabled this,
disabling it is something you can try.
Cheers, Ander
