Hibernation does turn off the Computer, but saves your settings in a File on the
Drive for fast restart.
Stand By should work if a bunch of System Drivers are working in unison. but is so
hard to troubleshoot that I suggest not using it, since it is not working.
Just turn off the Computer when done.
What you are doing by unplugging, and plugging the computer can do harm in the long
run.
